Schools have a clear duty of care for pupils and staff, and early years provision must meet EYFS paediatric first aid requirements. This course equips designated school first aiders and wider staff to respond to the emergencies most likely in a school setting — from playground injuries and allergic reactions to asthma attacks and seizures — all delivered at your school to minimise disruption and cost.
Teaching and support staff, early years and nursery staff in schools, designated first aiders, PE and activity staff, lunchtime supervisors and site teams.
A full, practical training day delivered at your school by our trainer. Staff work through realistic, school-relevant scenarios with hands-on practice on manikins, in a relaxed and supportive environment. Because it's on site, there's no travel and your team trains together — building a shared, confident approach to emergencies.
Respond calmly to emergencies involving children and adults; perform CPR and use a defibrillator; manage choking, bleeding and shock; and recognise and respond to anaphylaxis, asthma, seizures, head injuries and diabetic emergencies.
Practical, continuous assessment on the day — no written exam. Staff receive a FAIB-accredited certificate, valid for three years.
Schools across Leeds have trained their staff with us since 2018.
Our first aid courses are accredited by the First Aid Industry Body (FAIB), whose qualifications meet HSE requirements. Our Level 3 Paediatric First Aid and Mental Health First Aid qualifications are awarded by Qualsafe Awards (Ofqual-regulated), and our CPR & Defibrillator (AED) training is certificated by Skills Training Group. Like the British Red Cross and St John Ambulance, our training meets the standards set by the HSE, Ofsted, the EYFS and the Department for Education.
Your training is led by Martin Sanders — a serving Leeds firefighter and qualified Casualty Care Instructor who brings real front-line emergency experience to every session. Alongside his FAA Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work, Martin holds recognised teaching and assessing qualifications, so you learn life-saving skills from someone who both uses them in the field and knows how to teach them. All first aid certificates are valid for three years.
