Your legal duty

Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the "responsible person" in a workplace must ensure staff receive adequate fire safety training and that suitable evacuation arrangements are in place. Appointing and training fire marshals is a practical, recognised way to meet that duty and keep people safe.

Who should attend

Designated fire marshals and wardens, office and facilities managers, supervisors, and anyone with fire safety responsibilities at work.

What you'll learn

  • The role and responsibilities of a fire marshal
  • How fires start and spread (the fire triangle)
  • Fire prevention and reducing risk in the workplace
  • Types of fire extinguisher and their safe use
  • Evacuation procedures, assembly points and roll call
  • UK fire safety legal duties

Why train with First Aid Course Leeds

We've helped Leeds workplaces stay safe and compliant since 2018.

Our first aid courses are accredited by the First Aid Industry Body (FAIB), whose qualifications meet HSE requirements. Our Level 3 Paediatric First Aid and Mental Health First Aid qualifications are awarded by Qualsafe Awards (Ofqual-regulated), and our CPR & Defibrillator (AED) training is certificated by Skills Training Group. Like the British Red Cross and St John Ambulance, our training meets the standards set by the HSE, Ofsted, the EYFS and the Department for Education.

Your training is led by Martin Sanders — a serving Leeds firefighter and qualified Casualty Care Instructor who brings real front-line emergency experience to every session. On a fire marshal course, his front-line fire experience is especially relevant. Alongside his FAA Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work, Martin holds recognised teaching and assessing qualifications, so you learn from someone who both uses these skills in the field and knows how to teach them.

Training takes place at our centre at Stringer House, 34 Lupton Street, Hunslet, Leeds LS10 2QR — free on-site parking, easy to reach from the city centre — or we'll come to you for group bookings.
