Your legal duty

Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the "responsible person" in a workplace must ensure staff receive adequate fire safety training and that suitable evacuation arrangements are in place. Appointing and training fire marshals is a practical, recognised way to meet that duty and keep people safe.
