First Aid at Work Refresher Course

Refresh your skills with our 2-day FAIB-accredited First Aid at Work Refresher Course in Leeds. Ideal for workplaces, schools, and healthcare, it covers CPR, AED use, and injury management, ensuring you stay confident and certified for emergencies.

Keep your workplace first aiders qualified with our 2-day First Aid at Work (FAW) Refresher in Leeds. Accredited by the First Aid Industry Body (FAIB), it requalifies existing first aiders for a further three years and brings their skills fully up to date — quicker and more cost-effective than repeating the full course. Train at our Leeds centre or on site for your team.

  • Qualification: FAW Requalification (FAIB-accredited)
  • Duration: 2 days
  • Certificate: Renews FAW for a further 3 years

Who can take the refresher?

Anyone who holds a current (or recently expired) First Aid at Work certificate and needs to requalify. To take the refresher rather than the full course, your existing certificate should be current or within the allowed grace period. Not sure if you're eligible? Call us with your certificate expiry date and we'll confirm before you book — so you don't book the wrong course.

What you'll refresh

  • The role of the first aider and managing an incident
  • Adult CPR and AED use
  • Unresponsive casualty and the recovery position
  • Choking, bleeding, wounds and shock
  • Seizures, anaphylaxis and medical emergencies (heart attack, stroke, asthma, diabetes)
  • Fractures, head and spinal injuries
  • Updates to first aid guidance and best practice

What to expect on the day

Focused, practical training that revisits and sharpens your skills, updates you on any changes to guidance, and rebuilds your confidence — assessed throughout, with no written exam. A faster, more affordable route than starting from scratch.

Assessment & certificate

Continuous practical assessment throughout the course. On successful completion you'll receive a renewed FAIB-accredited First Aid at Work certificate, valid for three years.

On-site training

We deliver the refresher on site for teams across Leeds and West Yorkshire — convenient when several first aiders are due to requalify together. Call for a group quote.

Why train with First Aid Course Leeds

Leeds employers have kept their first aiders current with us since 2018.

Our first aid courses are accredited by the First Aid Industry Body (FAIB), whose qualifications meet HSE requirements. Our Level 3 Paediatric First Aid and Mental Health First Aid qualifications are awarded by Qualsafe Awards (Ofqual-regulated), and our CPR & Defibrillator (AED) training is certificated by Skills Training Group. Like the British Red Cross and St John Ambulance, our training meets the standards set by the HSE, Ofsted, the EYFS and the Department for Education.

Your training is led by Martin Sanders — a serving Leeds firefighter and qualified Casualty Care Instructor who brings real front-line emergency experience to every session. Alongside his FAA Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work, Martin holds recognised teaching and assessing qualifications, so you learn life-saving skills from someone who both uses them in the field and knows how to teach them. All first aid certificates are valid for three years.

Training takes place at our centre at Stringer House, 34 Lupton Street, Hunslet, Leeds LS10 2QR — free on-site parking, easy to reach from the city centre — or we'll come to you for group bookings.
